What Is BodyTite?

BodyTite is a minimally invasive body contouring and skin-tightening device. The BodyTite technology is powered by directional radiofrequency, resulting in three-dimensional tissue remodeling through fat coagulation. The coagulation of fat using RF-induced heat results in radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL). The BodyTite device consists of four hand pieces that all help to tighten and shrink-wrap the skin. BodyTite technology reduces fat without causing skin sagging. It delivers unparalleled clinical results by harnessing radio-frequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL). With traditional liposuction techniques, patients may see 12-18% skin contraction, but with BodyTite, patients will achieve closer to 47% skin contraction!

What to Expect During the Procedure

The BodyTite procedure begins with preparing the target area, which is cleaned and marked for accuracy. Patients are typically administered local anesthesia to numb the area and ensure comfort, although sedation may also be used. A small incision is made to insert the BodyTite handpiece, featuring a cannula that penetrates under the skin and emits radiofrequency energy to melt the fat and simultaneously heat the surrounding tissues. An external electrode glides along the skin’s surface, regulating the heat to ensure even distribution. The liquefied fat is then gently suctioned out, and the heat from the radiofrequency promotes collagen production, leading to skin-tightening effects that improve over the following weeks and months. After achieving the desired results, the small incision is typically closed with minimal suturing, given its small size.

Each zone takes approximately 15 minutes of treatment.

Is BodyTite safe?

A 2010 study confirmed that BodyTite is safe, well-tolerated by patients, and has a quick recovery time. The device has been cleared by the FDA for use on the stomach, arms, chest, knees, and thighs. It's also monitored by a computer that regulates the temperature, lowering your risk of burns from the thermal energy.

BodyTite vs. liposuction: what’s the difference?

BodyTite is not liposuction, but it can work well with liposuction to contour the body. If you’re looking to just reduce fat, liposuction alone may do the trick. However, if your skin has started to lose elasticity, you run the risk of being left with loose skin after the fat is removed. Pairing BodyTite and lipo helps avoid that potential side effect.

Are the results permanent?

Typically, BodyTite results in a 25–45% contraction of soft tissue. If you maintain your weight within 5-10 pounds, your BodyTite results can last for years. Your body will continue to age, but your skin should look better than if you hadn't had the treatment.

Many BodyTite before-and-after photos posted by RealSelf members show a significant reduction in fat, particularly on the flanks, lower abdomen (that pooch below the belly button), and arms. The fat that's removed via liposuction is gone for good, but the remaining fat cells can still expand; your results will last as long as you maintain a stable weight.

What is the recovery time?

Depending on the treatment area, downtime can be between 1-2 days and up to 10 days.
