What to Expect During the Procedure
Dr. Aydin performs male rhinoplasty under general anesthesia, utilizing either an open or closed approach based on the specific needs of the patient. During your consultation, we will discuss the best approach for your goals, taking into account your facial structure, skin thickness, and personal preferences.
Open Rhinoplasty
In open rhinoplasty, an incision is made across the columella, the narrow tissue strip separating the nostrils. This approach allows Dr. Aydin to fully expose the nose's underlying structures by lifting the soft tissue. He meticulously reshapes the bone and cartilage to achieve the desired profile, and if necessary, additional cartilage from the septum may be used to enhance the structure. After sculpting, the skin and tissue are carefully repositioned over the newly shaped framework. This technique results in a minimal scar hidden beneath the nose, which is virtually unnoticeable.
Closed Rhinoplasty
The closed rhinoplasty technique involves incisions solely within the nostrils, making it less invasive without visible scarring. This method is typically chosen for resizing the nose or clearing nasal blockages. Dr. Aydin may adjust the nasal bones by making precise fractures to reduce the size or use cartilage grafts from the septum or other areas to build up the nose. Similar to the open approach, the soft tissue is temporarily detached to allow for detailed adjustments and then re-draped to conform to the nose's new shape.
